Over the past several years, there has been no shortage of news-making rebrandings, with virtually every firm choosing a new (and probably flat) logo. Two years prior to TikTok's launch, in 2014, Hershey's unveiled a new logo. But in 2022, the logo is making a poor impression on the platform.
Yes, despite being eight years old, the makeover is still making people chuckle online due to the unfortunate resemblance of the logo to a certain emoji. And given that the business has maintained its composure and kept onto the design for almost ten years, we're not shocked.
Zachary Winterton, a TikTok logo expert, recently referred to it as the worst logo design ever , pointing out that the shape at the end of the wordmark, intended to represent its famed "kisses" candy, rather resembles the "Pile of Poo" emoji. Even the packaging's twist resembles steam. How did this get approved?
While many new logos have their share of early critics due to the shock of the change , it's unusual to see a rebrand garner criticism eight years later, especially when the original design is still in use. However, there might be worse logo design offences than making scatological remarks. The brand name is at least readable, which is more than can be said for the terrible new Kia emblem.
